Job Description

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled SMT Electronics Assembly & Rework Technician to join our growing hardware team in Santa Clara, CA. The ideal candidate will have experience working with PCBA, fine-pitch surface-mount components, and rework techniques, with the ability to perform precise soldering and testing operations. This is a low-volume, high-precision manufacturing role — perfect for candidates with prototyping or advanced small-batch assembly experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble and rework printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA), including SMD components down to 0201 and BGA packages.
  • Perform precise hand soldering and desoldering using hot air and rework stations.
  • Read and interpret engineering schematics, assembly drawings, and work instructions.
  • Perform visual inspection of solder joints per IPC-A-610 Class II/III standards.
  • Test completed boards using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other diagnostic tools.
  • Assist with system-level hardware integration and final product assembly.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and ESD-safe work areas.
  • Document work performed, issues encountered, and parts used.
  • Collaborate closely with the engineering team to iterate on design improvements and manufacturing processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in electronics assembly, PCBA rework, or prototyping.
  • Strong experience with SMT soldering and rework, including 0201 components and BGAs.
  • Proficient in reading schematics and using test equipment (e.g., multimeter, oscilloscope).
  • Good manual dexterity and attention to detail for small and delicate components.
  • Comfortable working independently on technical builds with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication and record-keeping skills.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

  • IPC-A-610 Class III Certification (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience working with GNSS, IoT, or RF hardware.
  • Familiarity with ERP or inventory management systems.
  • Ability to operate a microscope or inspection camera for precision assembly.
  • Experience in low-volume, high-mix manufacturing or rapid prototyping environments.

Please submit your resume highlighting relevant soldering, PCBA, and rework experience. Include any certifications or examples of past hardware you’ve assembled or tested.
