The Lila B Design booth at the SFMade Holiday Fair
Heard of wage subsidies but don’t know how to take advantage of them? SFMade member Lila B Design figured it out, and so can you! The company, which makes container gardens and living landscapes, hired Nathena three months ago as a part-time employee and they’re getting $5,000 of her wages reimbursed to them over a period of five months.
“We needed someone who could do a lot of different things that we didn’t have time to do like maintenance and gardening,” said manager Max Schroder. They interviewed Nathena after four no-shows, but Max added that it paid off to be persistent through the process. Nathena was given pretty basic duties at first, but her position has since expanded to match her skill set; she’s great at interacting with customers, very personable and responsible. When the five month period is up, the company plans to keep her on staff.
