Ashbury Images is a nonprofit social enterprise contract manufacturer that provides quality promotional goods, screen printing, and embroidery services while connecting at-risk youth with life-changing opportunities. While their goods and services are great, the opportunities they provide for youth are even better. Ashbury Images offers paid internship positions to youth, giving them the opportunity to learn both hard and soft skills to better prepare them for the workforce. So every order placed creates a social impact in the community.

Larriesha Blay is one of the integral members helping everything at Ashbury Images run smoothly. Originally starting as an intern, she worked her way through the program. At the end of her term, she was offered a full-time position working in the main office.

After first hearing about Ashbury images from the sister of a friend who had previously completed the youth internship program, both Larriesha and her friend decided to apply themselves shortly after graduating from high school. When asked why she originally decided to pursue the program, she modestly replied: “just to find some work, make some money”. She started off working on the floor assisting in everyday production. Focusing on simple tasks such as placing and catching shirts off the dryers, folding and packing them for shipping, Larriesha quickly picked up the flow of things.

After graduating from the program she was brought back in to assist the supervisor at the time with research and outreach into potential clients. What started off as an assistant type position quickly blossomed into a full-time job as the main point of contact for the company. She is now in charge of the curation and placement of orders as well as general customer service and engagement. Larriesha enjoys her job and looks forward to improving her communication skills to better assist clients and customers. As a near future goal, she wishes to gain an even deeper understanding of her job and the company so that she can provide an even more thorough and fulfilling experience for customers to come.

We’re proud of Ashbury Images for providing life-changing opportunities through paid internships! Here at SFMade we also believe that the experiences youth gain through paid internships can change lives and that’s why we partner with two youth organizations to place 30 high school students in internships with SFMade business members every summer.
