Fiat Lux, “San Francisco’s Spot for Handmade,” announced a Young Black Jeweler’s Initiative, which includes a full scholarship and support for an extended technical jeweler’s program for aspiring Black jewelers between the ages of 18 and 26.
In a statement on Instagram, the company said, “after a week of reflection, dialogue, and input of the staff, we felt that this—providing a concrete opportunity—is a meaningful way for us to contribute to change.”
Additionally, Fiat Lux has announced that it will donate to the Anti Police Terror Project and Bail Funds, commit to increase the number of Black Artists in their shop by at least 15%, and revisit hiring priorities to ensure a broader swath of voices, when it is possible to hire again.
