We could use your help in supporting manufacturers large and small. Think coffee, ice cream, chocolate, beer, furniture, and fashion. We’ve got 600 members manufacturing just about anything you could imagine. They are creating jobs (great jobs), keeping it local, and making us proud.
But they have questions. Which is where you come in.
Here are some examples:
- HR – What am I not allowed to ask during a job interview?
- Financials – On paper we’re profitable, but we never have any cash :/
- Space – Can you help us find a bigger factory?
- Supply Chain – We keep running out of widgets. Any advice?
- Production Efficiency – How can we deliver our product faster?
- Social Media – Should we be buying ads? Which platform?
You’ve probably worn a lot of hats so in some cases you’ll know exactly what to say. But when you get stumped, you’ll have the support of the entire SFMade staff and a team of volunteer advisors.
DAY TO DAY
We’re working from home but we’re also regularly visiting factories to meet our members in person (Your Uber/Lyft expenses will be reimbursed). You’ll need to be fully vaccinated. We send and respond to lots of emails, we document everything (for the grants), and meet with each other and our members “face-to-face” via video.
Don’t quote me, but your time with us might look something like this:
- 50% – Direct advising
- 30% – Documenting and admin
- 20% – Events: Organizing, promoting, and facilitating webinars, orientations, online workshops, in-person member meetings, and our annual holiday sales event.
In a perfect world you’ve managed people and production for a manufacturer. But even managing a retail store in the Bay Area will give you a lot of the skills that will lead to your success in this role.
This is not an old-fashioned stodgy non-profit. We are forward-thinking problem solvers working for creative entrepreneurs. We embrace technology whenever it can help.
