Company Spotlight: Earthbody

Denmo Ibrahim originally came to San Francisco to do performance art, and did bodywork on the side to make some extra cash. "But the bodywork slowly became my art," she said, "and I started looking for products to help heal the body. I realized that everything was mass produced and commercialized, with no real healing properties." Denmo began experimenting with her own line of body care treatments, and after studying ayurveda she created a line of 20 holistic facial and body care products.

Now, she's got a wholesale program for spas and studios that prioritize using organic and environmentally responsible products, a day spa in Hayes Valley, and 18 employees. She also just moved into an additional manufacturing space to ramp up production. "Everyone making the product is a licensed esthetician, which really attracts people to the product— it's handcrafted by healers."

Earthbody is participating in SFMade's Business Acceleration Cohort. "It's been great to be in a community that understands us," she said. "My partner and I are moving outside of San Francisco and we considered moving our production as well, but we decided to keep it here in part because of our relationship with SFMade."
