We recently shared the news that Kate Sofis, SFMade’s CEO and Co-Founder, has been selected by Mayor London Breed to serve as the Director of the San Francisco Office of Economic and Workforce Development.

We are delighted to announce that Janet Lees, SFMade’s Co-Founder and Chief Program Officer, will assume the role of Acting CEO, effective May 1, 2021, while the SFMade Board of Directors conducts a formal search for a new CEO.

Lees has provided exceptional leadership to the organization since its inception 11 years ago, including building our programs, and the SFMade brand, from scratch. As Acting CEO, she will bring a wealth of experience and knowledge, as well as consistency and continuity, so that during this time of transition, SFMade will continue to deliver on its promises to our manufacturing community, our partners, and our stakeholders.

“I look forward to partnering with the new CEO to write the next chapter and lead us into the future,” said Lees. “We have so many unique opportunities ahead of us. What I am particularly excited about is expanding our regional program footprint, which will allow us to serve more companies, deliver greater impact, and harness the power of manufacturing to create equity and inclusion”.

Lees will return to her role as Chief Program Officer, continuing to lead our program strategy and implementation once the new CEO is hired.

We are very fortunate to have our Co-Founder, Janet Lees, step into the Acting CEO role, and we are grateful to her for making the commitment to lead us through the transition.
