We are honored and humbled to receive JVS’s Business Leadership Award. For eight years, we have worked with JVS to create shared prosperity and cultivate living wage careers for adults and youth with barriers to employment, through the vehicle of strong, locally owned manufacturing.
The COVID-19 crisis has exposed the country’s over-reliance on foreign supply chains and already we see a pivot to strengthening local supply chains. Manufacturing has strong potential to fill the gap left by other industries impacted by the COVID-19 crisis, such as hospitality and retail, and to re-hire and create new job opportunities for displaced workers.
Now more than ever, JVS and SFMade will intensify our work to build intentional pipelines for people of color, women, and others with barriers to employment to access the quality jobs created by our vibrant regional manufacturing ecosystem and in doing so, drive greater economic equity across the Bay Area.
