Workforce and Hiring Intern, SFMade
Social Imprints is a local business and SFMade member that manufactures quality screen-printed items and boasts an impressive 95% customer satisfaction rate. Social Imprints is also well known for its mission to provide career opportunities and a living wage to residents in San Francisco who need a second chance.
Social Imprints regularly works with community organizations aimed at finding quality jobs in the city for people with social barriers to employment. This past year, owners Kevin McCracken and Jeff Sheibein hired three new employees, Katie, David and Kevin through a SFMade hosted hiring event with workforce partners Goodwill, Manpower and AmericaWorks for their production operations. The hiring event brought over 30 people referred from SFMade’s workforce partners together at Goodwill’s site to do speed interviews with Kevin and Jeff and later conducted second interviews on site.

“I really love my job, I couldn’t have asked for a better one.” – Katie
I visited Social Imprints in September and got to hear directly from their new employees what the hiring process was like. I spoke with Katie, who attended the hiring event. She explained, “Going to a hiring event took some of the stress off. It gave me the confidence to get dressed in the morning and be ready to go.”
Training new workers can be costly. For two of their new employees, Social Imprints was able to take advantage of a program sponsored by our workforce partner Manpower’s On The Job Training Program. Through this program employers can be reimbursed 50% (up to $6,000) to train new employees.
If you’re hiring for 3 or more positions, SFMade can organize a hiring event for you. Please contact [email protected] for details or to find out more about the On the Job Training Program.
