Designation: Manufacturing Engineer

Qualification: Master/Bachelor/Associate in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Systems Engineering or equiv

Minimum experience required: Bachelor/Associate in CS/IT/Mgmt/Sci. or e Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Systems Engineering or equiv. + 2 yrs exp for junior positions. Masters in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Systems Engineering or equiv. or Bachelors in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Systems Engineering or equiv. + 5 yrs of exp for sr. positions.

Skills: Technical expertise and operational troubleshooting for manufacturing projects. Knowledge in CAD/CAM, Solid Works, Power BI, Fusion 360/Inventor is required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conducting research to develop new and improved processes for manufacturing
  • Optimizing process yield and productivity through systematic continuous improvement programs
  • Managing and planning manufacturing of jobs including process validations
  • Troubleshooting problems associated with manufacturing processes
  • Responsible for manufacturing process management, Design support, Document Control
  • Understanding of GD&T, ISO QMS
  • Working knowledge with MRP Systems, Tool/Die Making, World Class/Lean Manufacturing, Just In Time Principles
  • Monitor, prioritize, and develop cycle time reduction programs for production components
  • Evaluating processes and equipment to ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations
  • Estimating production costs
  • Collaborating with engineering and quality control to resolve customer quality issues related to manufacturing
  • Generating and updating work instructions for production processes as required
  • Performing risk assessments

Joyce is an innovation strategist who is passionate about creating positive social change. She is a consultant at Sonder Collective, a social impact consultancy specializing in climate, humanitarian, and global health issues.

With 15 years of experience in various sectors, Joyce brings expertise in strategic planning, research, and developing solutions. Her work is fueled by her curiosity and commitment to making a difference. Before joining Sonder Collective, she worked at digital health startups, Kaiser Permanente Innovation, Elevance Health Innovation, and  PricewaterhouseCoopers Advisory Services. 

Joyce has a Master of Business Administration from the California College of the Arts and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Eastern Michigan University. She strongly believes in the power of creativity and entrepreneurship, which she promotes through graduate teaching at the California College of the Arts. She also served on the board of The Crucible, an industrial arts school in West Oakland. Currently, she serves as a founding advisory board member for COVEN, which focuses on activating spaces and places for monumental art. 

Joyce lives in San Francisco with her husband. They recently completed their first host experience within a cultural exchange program and are committed to hosting each year. In her free time, she enjoys adventuring in nature and collaborative public art projects with Five Ton Crane at Seaport Studios in Richmond.
