Job Description

About us

🌎 Earth back to earth. GaeaStar combines traditional craftsmanship with additive manufacturing techniques, creating technology for a world where convenience does not destroy our planet.

Our motivation is simple: We believe we have a responsibility to eliminate the negative impact of single use products. Inspired by how street vendors serve tea 🫖 in India, we are developing technology to print ultra-thin 🌱 clay cups, bowls and plates that disintegrate naturally after use. At scale, locally and ready in mere seconds. It’s a simple solution to a massive problem for our planet: Every year, over 500 billion disposable cups are used worldwide, most of which end up in our oceans and landfills.

We recently closed our Seed funding round to grow our team and scale production in San Francisco and Berlin. This is your chance: Join us near the beginning of it all.

Your role

We are launching in the US and are looking for the first Production Assistant for our production facility in San Francisco’s Dogpatch, where we will make hundreds of our cups each day. We are building a small team of operators that will participate in all stages of the production process alongside our engineering and development team.

  • This is a full-time, onsite position.
  • Support our launch in the US. Throughout the production process, we combine traditional ceramic production techniques with modern technology.
  • You will print hundreds of ultra thin clay-based cups each day.
  • You will rotate between the different steps of the production process throughout the week.

This is a non-exempt full-time position based in San Francisco, California. The hourly wage is $ 20 – 25 per hour. Local minimum wage laws apply. This information is posted to provide applicants with information about what they might be eligible to receive. Individual pay decisions will depend on job-related factors such as experience, education, skill, performance, and geographic location where work will be performed.

Your profile

  • Experience in ceramics studios. If you have prior experience in the production of ceramics, we’d love to talk to you.
  • Interest in manufacturing or mechanical engineering. While not a requirement, a demonstrated interest in technical work is a big plus.
  • Reliable & Organized. You do what you say. The team can count on you.
  • Physical work. You’re comfortable rolling up your sleeves and getting your hands dirty.
  • Detail oriented. Our cups are ultra thin. Precision matters.
  • Location. You can work in person in San Francisco and are authorized to work in the United States.

We are one team. We celebrate our diversity 🌈 and believe in equal opportunities regardless of race, gender, citizenship, age, religious beliefs, physical ability, marital status, or sexual orientation. And we expect the same from you!

Why GaeaStar?

  • A great challenge – what we are doing here is not easy and we’re improving continuously!
  • Convenient location in San Francisco’s Dogpatch with modern equipment.
  • $ 20 – 25 per hour, depending on prior experience.
  • Generous paid vacation with up to 120 hours accruing per year in addition to sick leave.
  • Fully paid base medical, dental, and vision insurance plans for eligible employees.
  • Predictable shifts.
  • We’re a lean startup with lots of room to innovate, learn together, and move quickly.
