Job Duties

As Bread SRSLY’s Bookkeeper, you tend the health of our finances in all that you do, capturing accurate snapshots of our business through categorization, cash flow tracking, and reconciliation. With your superb organizational skills you keep our books clean and useful. From payables to P+Ls, and budgets to balance sheets, you are fully fluent in Quickbooks and associated apps, and can work with external bookkeepers and CPAs alike.
We are looking for someone who values accuracy, documentation, and timeliness. You are a clear, kind communicator both internally with team members and externally with customers and vendors. You are skilled at prioritizing and managing your own workload, tracking and achieving goals, and leaving things better than you found them.
The Bookkeeper will report to the Director of People and Administration, and will work closely with the CEO, Operations Manager, and other department leaders. This position will not have direct reports.
The Bookkeeper will:
- Be a full-charge bookkeeper responsible for all accounting tasks, including but not limited to
-Managing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Invoicing, Credit Memos, Bank Deposits, Assisting month end close
- Managing Inventory
- Tracking budgets, projections, and cash flow
- Delivering financial statements and reports
- Managing and filing sales tax, use tax, property tax, municipal tax and collaborating with Accountant on income tax preparation
- Maintaining a coherent system of accounts, with a supporting filing system
- Being the backup for running payroll
- Managing other financial and administrative tasks

Job Requirements

- 3 years of bookkeeping experience in Quickbooks Online for a product-based business
- 1 year of experience with ecommerce accounting
- 1 year of experience with Shopify, especially integration with Quickbooks
- Experience using Journal Entries in Quickbooks
- Experience managing collections, AR, and AP
- Experience in inventory management for manufacturing
- Experience with payroll reports or processing
- Experience collaborating with a CPA on tax planning and preparation
- Fluency with Google Sheets, Google Suite, Bill.com
- Experience with state sales tax requirements
- Ability to travel to Berkeley once weekly to deposit checks
- Ability to work remotely with access to reliable internet
- Phone that can be reliably used for work
- Must be able to pass a background check

Skills/Experience Preferred

Extra Credit:
- 1 year of experience with an ERP for a product-based business
- Experience with Fishbowl Inventory Manager
- Experience with Paycom
- Conversational Spanish
- Experience building and managing budgets
- Experience with Open Book Management
