Job Duties

ABOUT THE JOB

We are looking to hire a full-time Human Resources Administrator that will act as the first point of contact for most human resources inquiries, serve as a resource to staff on human resources policies, procedures, and practices, as well as provide human resources administrative support. This role will be part of the admin team and provide support in the areas of recruitment, performance management, employee relations, as well as supporting many other areas. Working with the Director of Business Operations, this person will need to have a strong base in HR knowledge in order to maintain a high level of HR service to the entire company. We are looking for someone with strong organizational skills and a keen understanding of effective communication.

This is not a remote position and candidates should be available for in-office work as public health guidance allows.

Responsibilities

• Supports supervisors and managers through facilitation of and/or advice relating to various functions and processes including:
– Recruiting
– Performance management
– Employee relations
– HRIS input and update
– Compensation and benefits
– Diversity, equity, and inclusion
• Maintains and oversees employee files – ensures accurate and complete documentation is maintained concerning all phases of the employee lifecycle and is in
compliance with state and federal laws
• Assists in preparing documentation and scheduling meetings
• Screens resumes and applications, and schedules interviews
• Conducts new hire orientations and termination interviews, provides feedback to management
• Assist with various training implementations such as Sexual Harassment Prevention and DEI
• Facilitates 360 manager reviews
• Ensures all processes associated with payroll, new hire, transfer, and termination transactions are accurate and up to date
• Uses HR knowledge base and organization policies and procedures to provide guidance to supervisors and managers to resolve a variety of human resources issues
• Assists with managing the investigative process for employee complaints and disciplinary actions
• Provides support to employees and leaders in HR-related topics – responsible for communication, education, and advice on all HR programs and systems
• Identifies and executes on continuous improvement of HR programs and processes to enhance the overall employee and manager experience
• Ensures all legal and employment postings are visible and current
• Fulfills responsibilities associated with all parts of the unemployment process, including responding to claims, and appeals
• Keeps up-to-date technically and applies new knowledge to the position, maintains local, state, and federal compliance
• Other duties may also be assigned

Working Conditions

• Occasional travel within the Bay Area
• Flexible work hours including weekends and evenings

Qualifications

You should be highly organized, proactive, extremely detail-oriented, and be able to multi-task with ease in a fast-paced environment. Regardless of the task, you will be expected to demonstrate strong business judgment and professional etiquette. You must have extraordinary communication skills that allow you to interact with a diverse group of people.

REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in related area OR equivalent professional, related experience as a
generalist, advisor, business partner, or project/program manager in the human resources discipline

• Knowledge of human resources policies and programs, and how they affect other organizational policies and procedures
• Excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal skills – able to solve problems, think creatively, and resolve conflicts
• Ability to convey information effectively
• Strong analytical skills and logical thought processes – able to identify and resolve sophisticated and sensitive HR issues/problems
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
• Understanding of employee relations and the investigation process relating to employee complaints, policy violations, and other HR related issues
• Solid knowledge of state and federal employment practices and laws
• Experience in management of internal projects, including planning, scheduling, and tracking
• Comfort with change in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrated resilience, diplomacy, and relationship building skills in a variety of situations
• Ability to coach managers and peers on HR processes
• Knowledge of DEI practices

Physical Requirements

• Frequently stand/walk, sit, perform desk-based computer tasks, and use a telephone
• Occasionally write by hand, twist/bend/stoop/squat, reach/work above shoulders, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh
up to 10 pounds, sort/file paperwork

Compensation

$27.00 - $33.00, DOE

Benefits

Options to join Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance OR SF Medical Reimbursement Account, options to join Cal Savers IRA, and options to join commuter and flexible savings account after 60 days of employment. Sick pay starts accruing on the first day of hire and can be used after the 90th day of employment.
