Topology Eyewear is an exciting fashion technology startup in San Francisco which makes fully custom-fit eyeglasses and sunglasses. Using an iPhone app that performs a 3D scan of a customer’s face, we build a perfect 3D model and then craft glasses locally to perfectly fit each customer. We’ve cracked the challenge of scalable one-off manufacturing and are looking for bright and ambitious individuals who can grow with the company.

What’s great about this role is that you will hold many positions on a relatively lean production line, learn about operation of various machines, fabrication methods, and advanced manufacturing technologies. If you show the ambition and capability to manage people, you will be given the opportunity to advance within the organization. The difficult thing about the role is that it’s fast-moving, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize while being efficient and taking pride in every part we ship out the door is a difficult balancing act.
Measure workpieces and lay out work, using precision measuring devices.
Observe machine operations to detect any problems, making necessary adjustments to correct problems.
Load and unload items from machines.
Operate machinery used in the production process
Perform preventative maintenance and calibration on CNC machines
Set up and operate grinding and related tools that remove excess material or burrs from surfaces,
Buff, hone, or polish metal or plastic workpieces.
Inspect or measure finished workpieces to determine conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments, such as lensmeters, tracers, and calipers.
Attach identification labels to finished packaged items, or cut stencils and stencil information on containers, such as lot numbers or shipping destinations.
Perform functions in a timely, safe and cost-effective manner
Ensure work area is kept clean and safe
HS Diploma or GED
Excellent attention to detail
Rigorous Work Ethic
Basic computer skills, including spreadsheets and word processing
Outstanding mechanical aptitude and spatial reasoning
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, run experiments and draw valid conclusions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must have a basic working knowledge of materials (metals, plastics) and fundamental concepts of mechanics (stress, strain, etc.)
Willingness to work outside your comfort zone, in a fast-paced non-traditional manufacturing environment
Assembly experience and working knowledge of basic fasteners and hand tools
