Job Duties

As an enthusiastic and hospitable host, Servers act as the public face for Fort Point Beer Company, selling beer, wine, cider, and other beverages in addition to a full food menu. Our servers report into and are supported by our team of Retail Managers.

Servers and Beer-bartenders must be able to execute standard front-of-house capacities.

- Warm Hospitality Demeanor

- Serving Beer, Wine & Soft drinks
- Table, floor and guest expectation management
- Accurately taking, entering, timing, delivering, food orders
- Opening and closing a cash register
- Inventory control
- Cash drawer management
- General cleanliness
- Sanitizer usage

- Enthusiastically represent Fort Point Beer Company to the public
- Professionalism; keep good relationships with guests, colleagues and our neighbors
- Develop a strong understanding of Fort Point’s beers, the company, and it’s culture, and the ability to communicate this to our guests
- Hospitality; maintain a guest-first mindset; our goal is to ensure our guests leave excited about Fort Point
- Pour glasses of beer with attention to detail; ensuring proper head retention and volume.
- Deliver food with a high attention to detail and food safety.
- Fill growlers, sell six packs of cans, t-shirts and other merchandise
- Wash glassware; ensure beer is being served in a clean vessel
- Complete transactions in point-of-sale system, and accurately handle cash
- Change and organize kegs; clean draft lines as required
- Keep work space, service, and seating area clean and attractive at all times
- Prepare and serve food as required
- Follow all procedures in opening and closing store thoroughly and timely
- Work as a team, with flexibility to assist in other roles as needed

Communicate any issues with beer, food, facilities, or service to management

Job Requirements

- Customer-oriented job, internship, or volunteer experience
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application
- Proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills in English

- Love of hospitality and commitment to genuine engagement with our guests
- Courteous, professional, and polished
- Attention to detail and ability to communicate with guests and colleagues effectively
- Ability to communicate promptly and thoroughly with management via email and/or phone
- Willingness to take direction, and uphold company standards
- Ability to do basic math calculations

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Physical ability to stand up to 8 hours a day, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, and walk
- Hand and finger dexterity for grabbing, lifting, etc.
- Ability to move at least 150 lbs., and lift at least 50 lbs.
- Standing or walking for 100% of the shift

Schedule TBD depending on business needs and individual availability, but generally:
- Mornings, afternoons, and evenings required
- Some holidays required
- Weekends required

Skills/Experience Preferred

- Experience in basic food prep
- Experience as beer server/bartender
- Knowledge of beer and beer industry
- Knowledge of draft systems
- Past keyholder positions

- Proficiency with Square POS
- Proficiency with iOS
