Dandelion ChocolateDandelion Chocolate Website
Dandelion Chocolate is a bean-to-bar chocolate factory in San Francisco’s Mission District. We make chocolate from only two ingredients, cocoa beans and cane sugar, and travel to origins as often as we can to build good, trusting relationships with the producers who grow and ferment the beans we buy. The journey a bean takes to become a bar (or experience, gift, or hot chocolate) involves careful planning and tracking that is almost inevitably accompanied by surprises: containers get stuck on ships, bar paper arrives in the wrong color, a surprise monsoon delays a new machine from Japan, or ribbon set aside for the holidays was accidentally packed into one of four pallets headed to offsite storage. Our small but mighty team looks to our Inventory Planning and Ops Manager to forecast the sales of our items and ensure we have the right products in the right places at the right times in the right amount. Additionally, our IP and Ops Analyst will help answer various types of “what if” questions to determine the most profitable course of action across an array of choices.
Equal Opportunity Employer. Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, women, gender non-conforming people, persons with disabilities, LGBTQIA+ people, veterans, and adults of all ages are strongly encouraged to apply. In accordance with the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records for employment.
About the Role
As part of our team at Bloom, you’ll learn everything about chocolate from bean to bar to pastry. You’ll offer outstanding service by becoming well-versed in our philosophy on hospitality as well as tasting all of our drinks, pastry offerings, and bars to learn how the chocolate origin impacts the flavor of the final product. Our pastry team offers a variety of desserts and experiences in the salon and you will be tasked with guiding guests through the menu and helping them navigate the options. You’ll work with your team to provide timely, professional, and warm service to each guest who walks through our doors.
A typical day at Bloom will start with an update on menu changes, VIP or other special guests and events that day, and a quick check in with your lead to go over special task, reviews, training, and other key topics. Once service starts you’ll welcome guests, take drink and pastry orders, and work with our cafe team to time orders for a thoughtful, exquisite experience. Throughout the day, you’ll work to complete your checklist of shift responsibilities and sidework, and will make sure the next shift is set up for success before you leave for the day.
Our ideal candidate is a mature, team-oriented server who is excited to learn and share their passion for chocolate and hospitality. You develop authentic rapport with guests, can work independently as necessary, and you have the savvy to navigate unexpected situations with confidence. Whether it’s an impromptu birthday celebration for a regular or creating a custom tasting for an out of town guest, you always look for a gracious way to meet (or exceed!) a guest’s needs. You’re energized by a full book of reservations and you love making spaces more efficient in downtime so you’re ready for the busy period. This isn’t your first time working in guest service and hospitality, and you are excited to grow in your role and take on more responsibility.
