Job Duties

We are hiring a full-time Brewer in the Mission District of San Francisco. The brewery consists of a 3 vessel manual 10 bbl brewhouse, 8 fermenters and 4 brite tanks. Production will be approximately 1500-2000bbls per year with a small team of co-workers. This is a full-time position. This person will be a key production team member responsible for brewery operations at this facility.

Brewers are responsible for the production of beer from raw ingredients to finished beer. The brewer is also responsible for completing and overseeing cellar and packaging operations to ensure excellence and efficiency in all aspects of the brewing process. This includes but is not limited to:

- Maintaining a safe work environment
- Raw ingredient handling
- Wort production
- Yeast handling
- Floor supervision
- Practical knowledge of and ability to operate in the cellar including but not limited to:
· Cellar Reports and Lab work
· Fermenter additions
· Green and Bright beer conditioning and monitoring
· Packaging set-up and sterilization
- Cleaning
- Mechanical maintenance and Trouble-shooting
- Work with management to implement and refine procedures for quality and efficiency
- Work with management on special tasks and projects to further the ability and resources of the Production Team

Secondary Responsibilities:
- Packaging operation
- Raw material organization
- Assist in recipe formulation
- Represent the brewery at events

Job Requirements

Knowledge/Experience/ Education Required:
- High School Diploma
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills
- Proficient at math and basic lab work
- Must be detail oriented
- Must work well alone and with others to accomplish both simple and complicated tasks toward concrete goals
- Knowledge and understanding of various beer styles and types

Skills/Experience Preferred

Knowledge/Experience/Education Preferred:
- Degree or experience in Science, Math, Engineering, or Brewing/Fermentation Science
- Brewing Diploma or Certificate
- Minimum 2-years experience working at a brewery as a Cellar Worker, Brewer, or equivalent
- Experience supervising people
- Experience working on a team to complete complex tasks efficiently

Compensation

$20-26/hour, based on experience
